VARSITY CROSS COUNTRY FINISHES SEASON UNDEFEATED, LOOKING FOR FIFTH STRAIGHT TITLE
10/30/2013

Varsity cross country completed an undefeated dual-meet season yesterday with a 28-29 win at Calvert Hall, pushing their overall record to 9-0.

With yesterday's win, the varsity team is the top seed in the MIAA and heavily favored to win its fifth consecutive league title.

On Wednesday, Nov. 6, it will be a two-school race as only Loyola and St. Paul’s are serious contenders for the MIAA title. MIAA scoring would require the two top seeds to finish 4th and 5th in order for another school to take home the title.

Senior Tyler Spear is favored to win his second consecutive MIAA championship. Loyola should be able to place all seven of its runners in the top 25 and hopes to place all scorers in the top 15. Sophomores Frankie Legambi and Kevin Wegner and junior Michael Wegner could crack the top 10 as well.

VARSITY XCOUNTRY LOOKS TO REMAIN ATOP THE MIAA THIS SEASON
8/23/2013

After winning its 4th consecutive MIAA championship last season, beating out Calvert Hall by just four points, Loyola's varsity cross country team looks to remain the top dog in the MIAA this year.

This year’s team brings back one of the finest group of underclassmen in team history. The team returns four sub 10-minute 2-milers from the outdoor track season. Senior Tyler Spear is the defending MIAA Cross Country Champion, while junior Michael Wegner rejoins the Dons and will likely be among the finest runners in the state.

Sophomores Frankie Legambi and Kevin Wegner return and are expected to be among the MIAA’s best.  The Dons also return Sean Duffy, Ben Hosford and Andrew Macdonald fighting for the number five position along with Freshman sensation Max Barber.

The 2013 varsity cross country team is currently ranked #1 in the state by Running Maryland.  This season, the Dons will be attempting a fifth consecutive MIAA title, but Coach Albornoz has higher aspirations as he hopes his team will make some noise nationally when the season ends in Cary, NC at the Nike Cross Nationals Southeast Regional Competition.
